Reaching Across Time: Tenterden and District 1400-1600
We often stress the differences between now and then rather than think about what is similar, the things we have in common with our ancestors. Our exhibition invites you to consider where our lives touch, which stories resonate, how we see ourselves and our concerns mirrored by people who lived some six hundred years ago.
Our team of researchers has explored the following topics:
- Transport
- Industry
- Education
- Shipbuilding
- Medicine
- Religion
- The culture of the time
- The role of the elite gentry families
Meet the Brekyndens, hear the argument between Martha Whitfield and George Eley, vicar of Tenterden.
Come and join us in our exciting voyage of discovery about what life was like at that time.
Open daily: 10am to 4pm. Sunday opening: 1pm to 4pm
