Museum Tours

  • Daytime tours of the Museum
Book a private group tour of the Museum, led by a guide, explaining the history and background of the most interesting of the Museum’s exhibits. The tour lasts about forty five minutes, with time for questions, perusing our Reserve Collection or examining our latest Special Exhibition.  The cost is £12 per person with a minimum of ten people per tour.

Included in the cost is a £7 voucher which can be exchanged in the local teashops for coffee & cake, a cream tea or other food, or a pie and a pint at the Old Dairy Brewery.

Other optional Old Dairy Brewery tours may be added including a ‘Talk and Tasting’ session or full Brewery Tour, details of which can be found Here.

  • Tour Tenterden Town and the Museum
You can combine your Museum Tour with a 90 minute tour of Tenterden High Street. The Town Tour starts and ends at the Museum and is conducted by guides from the Local History Society. The two tours combine to give a wonderful explanation of how Tenterden developed through the ages to what it is today. Tenterden really is an amazing place! The combined tour costs £10 per head for a minimum of 10 people. You can add the cream tea or coffee and cake option at a local teashop for an additional £7 per head.

  • Evening Tours of the Museum  ** Coming soon **
A private evening tour of the Museum will be led by a guide, and will feature exciting stories built around our key exhibits. Discover what it would have been like to have been involved in putting out the Great Fire at the Smallhythe ship-building yard; to have been a member of a smuggling gang; to have been a hop-picker, or an actor in Tenterden’s theatre in the Napoleonic wars. Become immersed in the Tenterden Tales, each story is carefully crafted. The tour lasts about forty minutes, with plenty of time for questions, and is followed by sparkling wine and canapés in the Museum. The cost is £25 per person with a minimum of ten people per tour.
